2022 SACT Summer Production Open Positions

St. Anthony Community Theater (SACT) is looking to hire a Vocal Music Director and a Choreographer for our
2022 summer musical production of Roald Dahl’s Matilda to be performed at St. Anthony Village High School
Auditorium over the last weekend of July and first weekend of August. Auditions anticipated mid-May.
Rehearsals anticipated to begin mid-June. We are actively seeking BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ applicants.
Preferred applicants will have multiple years of relevant experience working in a community theater or similar

Vocal Music Director
• Attend weekly production meetings (scheduled based on availability)
• Communicate with production team members via email and in person
• Willingness to adapt to changing needs throughout rehearsal process
• Conducting experience preferred
Auditions & Rehearsal Responsibilities include:
• Work collaboratively with the director, music director, choreographer, and rehearsal pianist to
integrate individual and large group vocal music into the scenes
• Attend auditions, assessing vocal skills related to casting decisions
• Attend required rehearsals, all tech week rehearsals, and all performances
• Provide vocal music notes for individual and large group numbers
• Teach all vocal music at scheduled rehearsals on the cast rehearsal schedule
• Work with all cast members (with various levels of vocal experience and ability) to help them to be at
their best
• Help keep cast members on track at rehearsals in positive and effective ways

Choreographer
• Attend weekly production meetings (scheduled based on availability)
• Communicate with production team members via email and in person
• Willingness to adapt to changing needs throughout rehearsal process
Auditions & Rehearsal Responsibilities include:
• Work collaboratively with the director, music directors, and rehearsal pianist to integrate dance
numbers and large group ensemble movement into the scenes
• Attend auditions, teaching a short section of choreography and assessing auditioners’ dance skills
related to casting decisions
• Attend required rehearsals, all tech week rehearsals
• Provide written choreography notes for large dance numbers
• Teach all dances at scheduled “dance” rehearsals on the cast rehearsal schedule
• Work with all cast members (with various levels of dance experience and ability) to help them to be at
their best
• Help keep cast members on track at rehearsals in positive and effective ways

This year’s production is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
